How to transfer large files fast offline between iPhone, iPad and Windows devices

Transferring files between iPhone, iPad and Windows devices has always been easy with the help of cloud storage such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive,..

However that only applies to text and small files which are less than dozens of Megabytes. To deal with files of Gigabytes of data, you need to do it offline.

The way transferring files offline from iPhone, iPad to Windows devices and vice versa can be done with a cable. Follow these steps:

1. Connect iPhone, iPad to Windows devices using a lightning to USB cable → press Trust to trust the Windows device

2. Make sure iPhone, iPad has an app that acts as a file manager to help create a folder accessible both on iPhone, iPad and Windows devices where the transferred files will be there.

In this article, we choose 1LimX app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/1limx/id1615037409 to helps achieve that folder. This folder is located on iPhone, iPad storage, you can view it in the Files app.

On Windows devices when iPhone, iPad connected to MacOS devices through a cable, you can access the folder with the iTunes app https://support.apple.com/downloads/itunes.

Install 1LimX app on iPhone, iPad → connect to WIndows devices with a lighting to USB cable → install and open iTunes on WIndows devices → click the iPhone, iPad icon

Next, an overview of your iPhone, iPad interface will appear → select File Sharing tab, you should see the following

3. Transferring files

a. Transferring files from WIndows devices to iPhone, iPad

Make sure iPhone, iPad and WIndows devices are connected through a cable → Now drag the big file (or click Add File…) to be transferred to 1LimX folder in iTunes → wait for transferring process, it’ll be faster than other online ways.

b. Transferring files from iPhone, iPad to WIndows devices

Make sure iPhone, iPad and WIndows devices are connected through a cable → Open Files app on iPhone, iPad → Go to Browse screen → Go to On My iPhone → If you don’t see 1LimX folder, switch to WIndows device and drag a sample file (small text, image, … file) like the video above.

With 1LimX folder visible, you can send copy, save file to this folder. Now on WIndows device, Open iTunes → click the iPhone, iPad icon → select File Sharing tab → → select 1LimX icon, the files will appear → drag wanted file to your wanted folder on WIndows → wait for transferring process.
